LOG IN DATE

I just got an e-mail telling us we have a LID of June 4th. Next we are waiting for our Letter of Acceptance. (LOA) then Travel Approval (TA) and then wait to see when our consulate appointment is (CA) . Everything has an abbreviation and sometimes I have to look them up to see what people are talking about.

The Story Begins

Follow us on our journey to bring Max home. Some of you may be wondering why we decided to adopt. Dave and I both believe this is a journey that has been led by the Lord. We believe the desire has always been in our hearts and God has allowed it to grow. There had been lots of separate incidences that had brought the idea of adoption to our attention. I think Dave and I both were thinking the same thing but didn't mention it to each other. The last incident happened when a friend of ours (who is also adopting) told me about a website she wanted me to look at. The adoption agency ASIA does what they call a Hopes Journey camp for special needs kids.

Our hearts went out to these kids. The special needs of the children vary from minor to more severe. When Dave and I realized this desire had been placed in both of our hearts we began to seriously discuss and pray about it. We made a list of pros and cons, our list of cons seemed so selfish and worldly. We talked it over with Kim and Kasey, our daughters, and they were both very excited.
We brought it up to them when we were on a trip in the car and Kasey, out of the blue, said "I think we should adopt". Dave and I looked at each other and knew our adoption journey would begin. When we got home from our trip we began the process. If it was something that we were not supposed to be doing we knew God would shut the door, other than a few minor snags we feel the door has remained wide open. We began to look at the website, it was difficult because you just want them all. We had to be realistic and knew the child we would adopt would have to have a minor special need. It's too bad that we had to base our decision partly on health insurance. When we saw Quin's (that's his name on the website) profile we knew we wanted to pursue him. We got to see some video and more pictures. In the video with him was Scotty, a little boy Quin's age, I was told they were together all the time. The day we called to tell the agency we wanted to pursue adopting Quin she told me that someone had called to adopt Scotty. I have been in touch with them and they are now about one month ahead of us in the process. IL requires more hoops than other states. As of right now we are DTC (Dosier to China) we are waiting for our LID (Log in Date). We have a few more steps after this then off to China. We are expecting to travel end of Oct. or Nov. So please follow along. I will post more as our journey progresses. Feel free to leave comments or questions.
