Plane Ride

We are on the airplane about 45 min away from Korea. We wil have a 3 hour layover then catch a plane to Guangzhou where our guide Susan will meet us and take us to the Garden Hotel. The 14 hour plane ride was not as bad as I thought. Slept, ate, watched movies sounds pretty great. We had a lot of great snacks, thanks CCC (our awesome church family). My ears are popping so I think we are starting to descend. Our friends Sharon and her son Jake are also on the Plane they are bringing home two almost teenagers. When we left Chicago it was snowing and we had to wait for them to de-ice the plane. It was kinda cool to watch but a bit scary. It is 2:15pm in Chicago and 5:15am in Korea.

We leave tomorrow!

I can't believe we leave tomorrow. We actually leave on Sat. At 1:00 am. We are suppose to be at the airport 3 hours early (maybe for the pat down). China is 14 hours ahead of us so we will loose a day. So while you are sleeping on Sunday night we will be meeting our son. It just seems weird, that in a couple of days we will no longer be a family of 4 we will be a family of 5. So I am comparing the 17 hours of flight to 17 hours of labor. Actually labor was not that bad. I am sure the flight will be fine. We do have a layover in Korea so pray for safety. Just want to say thank you to all of you who have been and are continuing to pray for us. My biggest concern is for Max and how he must be feeling. I know he is back at the orphanage and away from his foster family. I know he must be hurting along with his foster family. We are just trying to focus on the big picture. OUR CONSULATE APPOINTMENT IS SET

We got word from our agency yesterday that our consulate appointment is on Dec. 15th. We will be traveling from Dec 3rd or 4th until the 18th of Dec. I am working on plane tickets today. We are all very excited to finally have a concrete date. We will be meeting Max on Dec. 6th. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare to travel. Please also pray for Max, that his heart be prepared for all the changes in his life. Pray also for his foster family to know in their hearts he is going to a family that will love him forever.

We got TA today!!!!

Today we were notified by e-mail that we received our travel approval. We won't know until Wed. what consulate appointment we get. If we get our first or second choice we travel on Dec. 4th through the17th. If we get our 3rd or 4th choices we travel one week later and that would make us returning home on Christmas Eve. What a Christmas this will be. We have 11 families in our travel group. Our good friend Sharon and her son Jake are part of that group. The Robertson family are adopting two!!! We are all getting very anxious and will keep you posted. Stay tuned

Any Day Now

We are still waiting for our TA (travel approval). I received an e-mail last Thursday saying China needed a signed copy of our LOI (letter of intent) before they will issue our TA. Our letter of intent was written way back in January. I was able to find it quickly I signed it and had to go to Daves job site and had him sign in. Most of the time Dave is working right outside in his shop but of course when I really need something quick it's on a day he isn't around. It really was no big deal, he wasn't to far away. I sent it out to arrive the next day. The agency got it and sent it on to China by Friday afternoon. This is a new procedure and it just so happens we are the first group that has to follow this. This affected 14 families from our agency who all plan to travel in Dec. The agency thinks we should still receive our TA in time to travel in Dec. but could not guarantee since this has never happened before. On the positive side, the later we receive TA the less time Max will have to spend back at the orphanage. They send him to the orphanage once we receive TA.
Max had a birthday on Oct. 10th yes 10/10/10. I used a service in China who will send your child birthday gifts and a cake. You go to the website and pick out things. I was also able to write a letter and send more pictures. We had gotten bunk beds for his room so I sent a picture of that to him. I did hear from the service and the things were delivered to him. She said he lives far from the orphanage so they gave the foster family the money for the cake and they got a cake and had a party for him at home. So Max definitely knows about us. Please pray his foster family is preparing him for all that will happen in the next couple months. Also prayers for the foster family. I know this will be hard on them also. My heart aches for them all. I know that this is the right thing for Max when we look at the big picture but it will definitely be hard for him. I hope my next post will be we got TA and plane tickets.
